20171203愛灑天下耘心地Paving the Bodhisattva Path with All-Encompassing Love

How fortunate are we to have so many overseas volunteers join us here. We have learned so much from them; things we’ve never imagined. There may even be things that we can hardly achieve. We’ve kept Master’s direction that we must pass on the teachings and train younger volunteers. So, we hope, through activities like this camp, we will discover talented young people.

We used the Buddha’s teachings and assign duties according to their experiences. Those with experiences in holding camp activities were assigned to accompany those who have less experience. Volunteers who took on the responsibility this time also mentored volunteer with much less experience.

When we put all these volunteers together and they worked together, everyone was full of joy. The less experienced volunteers didn’t need to worry or feel helpless; there were always some people helping them out. “It’s Okay. No problem. Let’s do it together.” Everyone completed their tasks with joy.

All those involved at the camp, including the attendees and the supporting volunteers, were all happy. Attendees brought the Dharma joy back to their countries or back to their teams. Through the cycle of goodness, we have planted seeds of Dharma joy deeply in everyone’s heart.

I am grateful to Master for this opportunity. Master, please do not worry. In nurturing younger volunteers, we will definitely do our best. We also vow that we will always be by Tzu Chi’s side life after life.

Yes, this happiness volunteers experienced is called Dharma joy, which is felt from the bottom of their heart, because they spread the Dharma, and the overseas volunteers truly felt and understood it. We are happy when we give and someone receives it. This is why I often remind everyone to harbor gratitude when we give.

In giving of ourselves, we form good affinities with people around the world. All the volunteer teams gave happily and had Dharma joy. I am very gratitude that volunteers in the central region of Taiwan worked together in unity and harmony. I am grateful for that.

However, we should make use of our time wisely; I have one wish, which is for every volunteer to remain firm to their aspiration. I hope everyone will remain healthy both physically and spiritually. After you join Tzu Chi, (your cultivation depends on yourself.) How long you walk on the path depends on how much path you have created yourself. You must not stop.

When other people are creating their path, and we make no progress on our own path; we are not going anywhere. If we create the path and stop wherever we wish, the path will end where we’ve stopped. While we still have vitality and physical strength, we should keep active and invite others to volunteer with us, walk in the right direction, and pave paths in our world and guide others to become living bodhisattvas and be enlightened.

In this way, we can encourage one another. I hope volunteers in the Hexin teams know my heart and pass on their experiences to younger volunteers. This does not mean you should let go of your Tzu Chi responsibilities. Instead, the things you should let go are attachments and afflictions. You should have a strong sense of mission (to guide and train younger volunteers,) so that you can nurture your wisdom-life and stay fit.

The Bodhisattvas Path is a long journey so you need to cultivate diligently without taking a break. If you stop, it will be hard to pick up volunteer work again. So, you need to make progress on the path steadily.

During the days on my tour, I insisted on walking up and down the stairs rather than taking the elevator. I hope everyone can do that too. Don’t just excise and go hiking, but take the elevator instead of the stairs. In our home, we can find ways to move around and maintain our physical fitness.

On the other hand, we must not stop nurturing our wisdom-life. We should make use of our wisdom to help people. So, we need to keep our mind active. I often say, we don’t know how long we will live and no one knows how long we will live. We don’t even know when our life will end, nor what will happen to us.

So, we should seize time and serve. It is not enough that w know life’s truth, we should seize time to share it with everyone, so everyone has the same direction. I’ve been reiterating my teachings. I kept reiterating them so that those who do not understand will eventually understand; and those who have not heard them before will hear of them. For those who hear the teachings for the first, they can be inspired.

Those who are familiar with the teachings can share with others. Through such interactions, we pass on our wisdom to people. We transform our consciousnesses into wisdoms by applying the Dharma in daily life. To inspire all living beings, we need to let people know how Dharma is connected to life.

I am very grateful. The volunteers in the central region bring me much comfort. I am very touched. I hope we all have Tzu Chi’s spirit and values. This morning, I went to the Jing Si Hall on Minquan Road; it brought back memories. We have spent more than 20 years at that place. Now, this current Jing Si Hall will be surrounded by new developments.

We are starting to construct the Dali Jing Si Hall and the Dongda Jing Si Hall I hope that when they are completed, we can use them as venues to inspire more people and train more volunteers. At our Jing Si Halls, I hope to see volunteers working together in unity to cultivate fields of blessings.

All volunteers of the central region vow to join hands, pave the path together, and walk on the Bodhisattvas Path diligently.

Paving with just one thousand hands is not enough, we should pave it with many thousands of hands; we should pave each inch of land with love so that the path will be connected seamlessly. We must cover the whole world with our love; I hope there are living bodhisattvas everywhere; thus can be achieved with our love, covering the whole world. Can you achieve this? (Yes.)

Good. I am grateful. Volunteers from central region, may you use your love mindfully, extend it to all directions, and display your power of love. I am grateful. Each and every moment is indeed a moment of gratitude.
